exit-2011-sign

It is a brand new year, welcome to the end of a decade and the beginning of a new.  Every year we all make the same resolutions only to give up before seeing it through.  We always promise this year is going to be different.  Well you know what?  This year is going to be different!  Whether you want to get in shape, quit smoking, or just spend more time with family and friends, here are a few tips on how you can actually do it.  2011 is going to be different, I can guarantee if you stick to these tips you should see a difference in whatever goal you want to attain.

1.  Be very clear-cut about your resolution.  Rather than saying “I want to lose weight”, set a specific amount along with a time frame.  Setting a specific number, such as 15         pounds will help you to have a sight in mind.  Make sure you write down your goals, if you write it down, the visual is an incentive to see it through.

2.  Have a support group.  If your family and friends are there for you, more than likely you will stick to your resolution.  Maybe one of them has the same resolution as you and two of you can work together.

3.  Engage in new behaviors.  If you want to be successful, you are going to have to         practice success.  If you are trying to quit smoking, stray away from bars that allow         smoking.

4.  Set small goals and reward systems.  Every time you lose 10 pounds reward yourself.  Buy yourself a new pair of shoes, or a handbag.  These small successes and rewards will reinforce your ultimate goal and help you appreciate the hard work you have already done.
